Real Wedding | Intimate Lakeside Ceremony

Fay + Dan are celebrating their two week anniversary, and we couldn’t be more excited for this new chapter in their lives! They flew all the way from the UK {along with 8 of their closest friends and family members} to tie the knot at Cypress Grove, and today we’re reminiscing over their sweet details – Fay’s gorgeous, cascading pink peony bouquet {one of our fav flowers, btw} and the handmade cake toppers {the couple loves cuddly bunnies and has a few of their own back home}.

Shopping Guide {The Bridal Edition}

Planning a wedding is quite stressful – trust us, we know girl. Though coordinating the ceremony and reception may be the most important area of focus, shopping for the bride’s gown is undoubtedly the most exciting part! Many of our brides come to us bearing timeline questions, such as: “When should I purchase my veil and accessories?” Well, we’re here to break it all down for you:

10-12 months remaining
If you’re anything like us, your Pinterest boards are full of gown inspiration. Bring photos to your stylist at your shopping appointment so that everyone is on the same page in order to find the dream dress. If at all possible, we’d suggest limiting your entourage to two or three people. Bridal gowns are essentially custom-made, so you need to allow designers time to create and ship to you,

6-8 months remaining
Shop for your undergarments, veil, shoes, jewelry, and any other accessories. Your bridal salon very well may give you options and suggestions when you purchase your dress. It’s crucial to have these items before your first fitting! This way your seamstress can alter the dress appropriately around your accessories.

6-8 weeks remaining
Your dress should have arrived by this point, so it’s time to have the first fitting! Your undergarments are shoes will determine how your gown is altered to fit you perfectly. Once the initial adjustments are made, you may need to go in for a second fitting for smaller tweaks.

1-2 weeks remaining
Have your final fitting and pick up your dress. You may want to bring all your accessories {veil, jewelry, etc.} to see the complete look.

Real Wedding | Vintage Backyard Wedding

There’s just something about a backyard wedding that’s so special and unique. It also helps when your backyard looks like this one did with its beautiful spacious yard scattered with trees, perfectly aged wooden fence, big porch, and we can’t forget the pigs! {If you’re looking to add some real character to your wedding, pigs will definitely get the job done}.

Working with Amanda + Andrew was such a fun process. From the beginning, the bride knew what she wanted and we set out to make that dream a reality! She had her heart set on a rustic wedding and when we asked her what her color palette was, she responded with “burlap and lace.”

For the guest tables, we used our Farm Tables paired with our mismatched chairs. The {Guest} Who’s Here Vignette showcased our Tiger Wood secretary desk, Antoinette. We styled the space with a stack of vintage luggage, our antique typewriter and books. The cake was displayed on our sweet Victorian buffet, Victoria. With a little help from our small ladder Tucker, we displayed our mismatched dessert plates on and around the cake table. We just had to add in some lace and burlap with our custom fringe banner draped across the dresser.

Clare + Archie | Rabbit Hollow

The power of social media. This lovely couple planned their wedding from Scotland and fell in love with a wedding we styled at Rabbit Hollow a few months prior. They were looking for a romantic and charming wedding with vintage touches – we were elated to assist.

Our favorite moment: the loving moments with the couple and their kids. Claire and Archie’s marriage blended two families – watching them interact… you’d think the kiddos grew up together! It’s not often we get to watch as the family photos are taken, Claire Pacelli did an amazing job capturing their personalities.

Our favorite detail was the Despicable Me inspired cake. Party Flavors’ attention to detail with the little “minion” was absolutely impressive {did you notice the hair?}. So much so, we had an in depth discussion on how to cut while preserving its cuteness!!

Social Lounge | New Country Meets Glamour

Kim: “When I think of the south the first thing that comes to mind is magnolias. They’re so fragrant and gorgeous {in an understated way}! Sadly, they’re not in season right now but I was still able to incorporate their beautiful, rich green leaves, and they ended up being the inspiration for my entire design! My florist {Lesley} created two stunning wreaths that were woven through two even more stunning crystal chandeliers, and she also used the leaves in the smaller floral arrangements and garland that held back the gazebo draping. We added even more color to the floral by throwing in hints of purple and marsala {the Pantone color of the year}, which helped to pull out the colors in the two floral chairs.

Now, I’m not a ‘glamorous’ type of gal, so when I had to throw crystal into the mix I really had no idea where to begin {other than the chandeliers}. After rummaging through our inventory, I was beyond thrilled when I stumbled across a most glorious collection of crystal decanters, stemware, and assorted vases! An antique silver tray, two decanters, and a monogrammed tumbler {borrowed from my grandmother} made up a mini whiskey/bourbon station, and since I’m slightly obsessed with calligraphy, I made magnolia leaf labels for each decanter. Speaking of things borrowed, my grandmother also loaned me a pair of boot spurs and a sheriff’s badge that both belonged to my grandfather {he was a real life cowboy back in the day!}. Attention to detail is something I really appreciate in design, so I attached the badge to the bouquet and the spurs accented a framed song quote by Johnny Cash. I also added some texture + pattern to the vintage settee with faux leather pillows I had made a few weeks prior. Oh, and if you’re wondering if that’s a cow hide rug sitting pretty under our mini farm table… it certainly is ;-)”

All Wrapped Up | Industrial Chic

Shadow: “My challenge was to create an industrial chic inspired vignette using a color palette of blue, slate, and mint. When designing this All Wrapped Up vignette, I knew I wanted to bring in mismatched metals and dark eclectic elements with a feminine touch. The venue was an empty warehouse so I brought in different warehouse elements such as the trunks, industrial lighting, and painter’s ladders.

I wanted to draw the eye in from top to bottom by creating different levels of height. I based my concept on 2 main pieces, the scrap metal Mr. and Mrs. sign and Rachel, the mismatched backdrop made of wood and metal. No ordinary table would do for this concept, so I created a gift table using Elias, our white ladders and a stained wood board, adding small details to fill in the negative spaces. Industrial reminds me of a shipping warehouse so I knew trunks and crates were a must! I used Bates, our whitewashed trunk to bring in a bit of lightness to this otherwise dark space. Other trunks were used to stack on top of each other, as you see behind the ladders, to place the chalkboard. James, the wagon, was a must have with his metal wheels and mahogany frame.

Floral and greenery played a big part in tying in the color palette. Succulents, hydrangeas and thistle were the perfect combination of blues and greens, while anemones and peach roses bought a light and airy feel. Details such as the lanterns, fan, and window pane tied in the industrial warehouse theme perfectly.”

{Guest} Who’s Here | Backyard Garden Party

Tori: “When I first heard we were doing an RW Design Challenge between the team, I was extremely nervous, but I didn’t want to show it. But I thought to myself, ‘Okay Tori, you can do this. With all the experience you’ve gained from day-of coordination and having brides trust you with their decor, you may have a shot.’ So then I instantly got excited! I received my concept and was told my “bride” was hosting her wedding in her parents’ backyard, and was going for a girly garden party style but didn’t want to use blush or gold. So I started to brainstorm and I instantly thought of sun hats, rocking chairs on the porch, lemonade, and veggie gardens. I knew I wanted to go for a bright, fun, inviting look with the vignette, especially since it’s the first thing guests would see. I went with something a little different than a sign-in book, and instead chose a pretty floral pillow for guests to sign. I loved this since it can be used and enjoyed by the couple later on. The chalkboards provided some extra decor {and directions for signing in}. ‘Let Love Grow’ is a nod to the wedding guests who watered the seeds of the couple’s relationship, and as each person continues to bless and support the love birds, they’ll see that love blossom as the years go by.”

Sweet Spot | Travel Theme

Rachel: “Oh good gracious, where to begin!? When the challenge was initially issued to us gals, I completely panicked {no exaggeration here}. How in the world could I compete with my style savvy team of coworkers? After the 48 hours of shock and terror wore off, I gathered my game plan and began to design.

My bride and groom were to be wed at an airplane hangar with a travel theme. Desserts were super important to the couple, and they wanted the reception to be designed around the sweets and treats. I had seen plenty of beautifully done, romantic, vintage travel weddings before. That being said, I decided I wanted this sweets display to be more in the bright, eclectic and fun direction.

I am so incredibly grateful for my awesome vendor team – David from Weddings by Carly Ane’s, and Jennyfer from The Sugar Suite. We decided to base the five cakes on different countries that we loved. Atop each cake was a flag that said ‘love’ in the language of the various countries. My favorite is the Greek cake with the darling red poppies! Three of the cake stands are from our silver tin collection, and I love how they looked against the ivory dresser. The flowers were kept simple and bright, since we wanted the cakes to be the focal point of the design. I incorporated a few pieces of my favorite vintage luggage, along with our table globe. My favorite part of the design was the playful globe and scripting on the dresser’s chalkboard.”
