Wedding Planner Highlight

A Q&A Session with Jennifer Lopez of Bella Sposa Events

The owner of one of Orlando’s fastest growing wedding planning companies and the pastel princess herself, Jennifer Lopez, was sweet enough to do a Q&A session with me. Find out about her personal style, favorite wedding moments and what it’s like to be a full-time wedding planner.

Q: When did you start planning weddings, and how did you get into the industry?

A: I started my business in February of 2016. In 2013 I was working for a wedding design company that partnered with some amazing planners and I would help them out whenever the planners were needing an extra hand. I didn’t think I would ever become a planner being that I grew up in a small town and planners didn’t exist. It has been the most amazing and rewarding thing I have ever done in my life, what a blessing it has been!

Q: How many weddings do you take on in a year?

A: I personally take on about 60 weddings a year, which is a lot! The average planner does 25-30, but what can I say, I love what I do! My team and I take on about 130 a year. I love my girls, they’re amazing and I don’t know what I would do without them. They seriously rock!

Q: How would you describe your personal style?

A: I would love to say I’m pretty trendy! I love big fun earrings, shirts that say fun things on them, and I love me a cute pair of Keds! I love everything pastel, so If you’re looking for dark that’s not me. I am bright and bubbly when it comes to my attire, I always want to be picked out in the crowd. Hello, Kate Spade!

Q: Who is the most memorable couple that you have worked with, and what made them so memorable?

A: Oh my gosh, this is a really hard question! I would have to say my very first Full Planning and Design Clients, Tess & Tyler. I connected with them on a personal level and we are still friends to this day. I enjoyed working for them because it didn’t seem like work. They always made me feel so comfortable and were always so easy to work with. They truly made me love what I do. It doesn’t always work this way, so I cherish the clients that I establish this amazing connection with!

Q: What has been your favorite styled shoot that you have designed so far and why?

A: My favorite shoot so far has been at Haus 820 in Lakeland, everything about this styled shoot was amazing! All the details, colors, and vendors made it absolutely flawless!

Q: What is one memory you have from a wedding that you’ll never forget?

A: I had a wedding at Bella Collina a few months ago where the Father of the Bride made it a point to stop everyone and thank me from the bottom of his heart for everything I had done. Him doing that in front of everyone made me feel so loved and appreciated. It is very rare that people thank me in front of everyone, so it really made me feel so special.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of being a wedding planner?

A: I don’t think there is anything more rewarding than seeing everything come together on wedding day. I love when I say goodbye to my clients at the end of the night and they tell me it has been the best day ever! That’s all I ever want for our couples so that’s always the most rewarding part.

Q: What is something that you want future clients and/or the reader of this blog post to know about you?

A: That I am the most chill and kind-hearted person in the world. I truly believe everyone deserves the most amazing wedding day no matter the budget, venue, or style. I really love what I do and my team and I are here to make sure you have the most amazing day ever. This has been the most rewarding thing in my life and I plan to continue to make sure that all our future and current clients have the BEST DAY EVER!

Fur Babies + Wedding, YES!

Fur Babies_Ring Bearers

Weddings are an opportunity for your closest friends and family to gather for a celebration of love, including your fur babies! Whether your pups are there to celebrate in person or are represented through heartwarming details, including them in your day can ensure sweet memories and add a personalized touch to your wedding.

Megan and Thomas were married at Cypress Grove Estate House last October and knew before they booked that their fur babies, Rupert and Colby, had to be involved in the event.

When we began looking for venues we made sure to ask if they were pet-friendly because we knew they would be a part of our special day. They’re like our children and we couldn’t imagine our wedding day without them there.”

It was important to the couple that their dogs were not only in attendance but were included in the most significant aspects of their wedding day.

They were there for our first look, greeted guests as they arrived, walked down the aisle in the ceremony, and took pictures afterward before they were taken home.”

Ashley and AJ planned their December wedding at Cypress Grove Estate House with Ashley’s fur baby, Zoey, in mind, from finding the perfect venue to deciding how long she would be at the wedding.

“She’s been by my side for 7 years and she was going to be there for the wedding.  Any venue who didn’t allow dogs was automatically crossed off my list. She arrived with me and my bridesmaids in the morning and left at the end of the night with my parents. On the program, she was called the dog of honor, and during the wedding, she walked down the aisle with my parents.”

Zoey even made an appearance on the koozies given to their guests as favors. Ashley noted that her guests loved having Zoey at the wedding, and she even contributed to some memorable moments.

When we were pronounced husband and wife she barked. It wasn’t planned, but everyone thought it was adorable.”

Honoring your pet at your wedding through touching details is a great way to include them if they aren’t able to attend. Nikki and George lost their dog, Bruce, shortly before their wedding.

We had plans to make him the ring bearer, so being able to include some small details of him at our wedding was very important to us. The beer glass pictured was one of the first gifts I ever gave to George very early in our relationship, and Bruce’s dog tags served as my ‘borrowed and blue’. As the loss was still very fresh and deeply personal we wanted to keep the details something that was close to us.”

Although Bruce wasn’t able to attend, he is still represented in the details, which allowed guests to share in the love the couple had for their baby.

Including your fur babies in your wedding day festivities can help create an atmosphere of love and friendship that will leave you and your guests with fond memories of your big day. Including furry friends and the highlighting lasting impressions they have left on your hearts is a great way to ensure your wedding is one to remember!

Real Talk // Kristina + James

This sweet couple met about three and a half years ago; Kristina was looking for a roommate and James turned out to be the perfect match in more ways than one ?

How did you meet?

“We met in New York in January of 2016. I was looking for a roommate to rent the second bedroom of my apartment in Chelsea. I posted an ad for a roommate on Craigslist and James answered the ad. He was moving from London to New York and needed a place to stay. We met up and I gave him a tour of the apartment. He loved the place and we got along instantly. Less than a year later, we were together and not too long after that, we were engaged! If you ask him how we met, he would simply say Craigslist, which has definitely gotten us some strange looks along the way!”

What made you choose Luxmore as your venue?

“We loved the venue the moment we stepped inside. It sold itself. Our ideal venue was an outdoor wedding and the space outside was perfect. With Florida weather being as unpredictable as it is we needed to feel good about getting married in the backup space the venue had. The room the Luxmore presented to us was just as beautiful as the outdoor space which made us feel it was the perfect place for us.”

What was your design inspiration?

“We both had the same idea for the wedding decor which made things much easier. White and ivory with touches of silver and gold. Simple, elegant, classic! It turned out to be everything we envisioned. “

What was your favorite part of the event?

“When my new husband sang to me! And also the cake! He would say the open bar lol.”

What factors did you consider when choosing your vendor team?

“Reviews, reviews, reviews! It was important for us to hear what other couples had to say. It really influenced our decisions when we chose our team. I would also say communication. Since we had to plan the wedding remotely, it was extremely important to us that our vendors were able to help us via phone and face time. “
