We love a southern inspired menu and not to brag but it is our specialty! Big City Catering knows how to turn on the southern charm, with tons of options on plated or buffet menu styles. Food is such an important part of an important day, believe me when I say that we take our menus serious. Check out some of our favorite bites that you and your guests will love!
Cocktail Hour is where it all begins!
Your guest will go crazy for these southern treats! The Pimento Cheese Crostini has creamy pimento cheese dolloped on a flaky crostini and topped with candied bacon. Our Chicken and Waffle bites are time and time again a crowd pleaser! Tender chicken nestled on top a Belgium waffle and drizzled with a decedent maple syrup and served on a skewer for easy eating. I’m not drooling, you are!
Wet your whistle with a light and refreshing craft cocktail, the Mint Julep is the perfect quencher: smooth bourbon, muddled mint, a touch of sweetener that’s topped with seltzer water. Looking for something a bit stronger? The Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail with an undeniable southern flare. made with smooth bourbon and bitters, sweetened with simple syrup and garnished with an orange wheel.
Pro tip: The Old Fashioned pairs perfectly with our Bacon Bar! Have your choice of three different flavored bacons! Which makes for a delicious savory snack as your guests sip their cocktails.
Your Southern theme doesn’t have to end there, you can find southern inspiration throughout our perfectly curated menu. Give us a gall today to chat specifics!
What’s more romantic than a sunset wedding? A lakeside, sunset wedding at Cypress Grove, of course! Everything about Nicole + Sean’s soiree was just so dreamy!
Flowers by Lesley decked the gazebo out in a stunning floral garland and the couple had a very special moment during their lakeside ceremony – Florida native butterflies were released in memory of loved ones 😭
The biggest hurdle for their sunset wedding was definitely the chance of rain. The couple opted to have a tent set up, just in case, and boy was it a lifesaver! While it did rain the morning of, thankfully the weather cleared and the ceremony + reception took place as planned. We never let a tent go to waste, though; guests mingled and nibbled on a delectable charcuterie display under the tent during cocktail hour {our foodie hearts are swooning}!
Guests were treated to a glass of champagne upon entering the reception space, and then feasted on a delicious plated meal! A late-night bite of pizza + burgers made an appearance, giving guests the chance to refuel after dancing the night away! Oh, and don’t forget about that cake – definitely non-traditional, but oh-so-delicious!
I’m not sure about you, but we love making authentic connections. We’re always looking for ways to stay connected to this amazing Central Florida wedding community. A couple of years ago we started an intimate networking series that we were too busy to keep up with. However, COVID has given us some time to reflect on the little things we’d like to accomplish… staying connected with our vendor partners and creating new Central Florida vendor connections was at the top of the list.
We’re happy to say we’ve reworked and reintroduced The RW Coffee Shoppe. The entire goal of the networker is to authentically connect! To connect without judgments, rekindle old friendships, chat about business ideas, and spill the tea on what we’ve been up to. All while having a good time over mimosas, coffee, tea, and treats!
Sidebar: we’ve been practicing, and the coffee is pretty darn good now. For those of you that attended the inaugural Coffee Shoppe – thanks for being our guinea pigs, lol!
If you’re open to a laid-back networking environment + looking to build stronger Central Florida vendor connections, we’d love for you to join us! The events are intimate, so be sure to reserve your spot soon! Click here to RSVP.

She’s all about the team spirit when it comes to working together ?
Just like clothing, flower arrangements tend to get a bit brighter in the summer. Whether you’re picking your color palette or summer floral first, it’s important to know which types of flowers are in season on your wedding day. Some of our go to flowers for summer arrangements are Peonies, Roses, Anemone, Larkspur, Queen Anne’s Lace, and Stock. Check with your florist (we know plenty!) for the best blooms in your wedding month and build from there! From the photos below, you can tell we love a pop of yellow!
The Recipe
This summer floral recipe features a eucalyptus garland, and whole and halved lemons extend the impact of this organic and citrus inspired arrangement.
Small arrangements can still make a big impact! Lining farm tables with small arrangements of large blooms can be just as gorgeous as having large centerpieces!
Pedestal vases are a client favorite and work well on round or rectangular tables. They’re also a great way to incorporate a metallic or wooden texture you’re featuring in other areas of your décor! And they make a big statement without taking up too much real estate on your tables!
Create dramatic height without obstructing views! These wooden centerpiece stands allow for different focus points throughout the reception space without keeping guests from being able to see the person across from them.
Classic white and green centerpieces are stunning in every single season. We love how different types of greenery, vases, and heights are incorporated into this overall design! The floral takes center stage in the room and plays off the natural light pouring in from the bay windows.
RW Events started as a boutique wedding planning firm with a focus on full planning throughout central Florida, while we don’t get to dabble in planning nowadays, we still love working very closely with our corporate and social clients through our rentals and venue management!
A few years ago our creative designer, Dede Cowart, drafted the illustration below with the help of calligrapher, Andi Mejia. It was created for the annual lookbook to show the evolution of the brand. Since then we’ve opened a retail store (Miscellaneous Market) and have an exciting new venture we’ll be announcing soon!
We’re so thankful to all of our clients for trusting us with their weddings and events!
