Favorite Friday | BBJ Marble Collection

While some of the gals in our office are suckers for stationery {ahem, Tamuel}, I’m a lover of linen. I could seriously dream up tablescapes with creative textures, patterns, and colors all day! One of my new favs is the marble collection from BBJ linen – it incorporates perfectly subdued colors with a simple design. The ideal combination for the trendy bride looking to blend modern flair with classic elements.

Favorite Friday | Wedding Traditions

I was so excited when I found out our summer couple, Amber + Matthew, were using two of my favorite traditions in their wedding! Neither require too much pre-planning, so they’re super easy to incorporate into the day:

Bury the bourbon – a tradition typically seen at southern weddings, burying a bottle of bourbon is supposed to ward off rain on the wedding day. There are two caveats, though – you must bury the bottle upside down and it must be buried at the ceremony site. I’m not one for bourbon, but if it’s going to keep away rain, I’ll do it 😉

Bury the Bourbon

Penny in the bride’s shoe – this actually comes from the Victorian “something old, something new” rhyme {I’ll bet you didn’t know there were actually five items included in this}. It started out as a sixpence and changed to a penny overtime, and the idea was that the coin was a symbol of wealth and good fortune for the couple. Some brides would save the penny for her future daughter to be used on her wedding day.

Favorite Friday | Timeless Bridal Beauty

We were absolutely in love with our bride’s wedding day beauty look! From flawless make-up {by Make-up by Meghann} to that stunning Anne Barge gown, Olivia truly fit the part of a blushing bride!

Classic Bridal Make-upPro tip: go for the false eye lashes! False lashes really make your eyes pop in photos, and they come in all sorts of varieties {strips, individuals, etc.} so even the bride wanting a more natural look can give these a try.

Favorite Friday | Shoulder Necklaces

Aren’t these shoulder necklaces and boleros simply stunning!? We are loving these for the bride looking to add extra sparkle to their bridal attire, whether it be something dainty, elegant, or a bit edgy. The great thing about these is that they can easily be removed for dancing and you can pair them with literally any strapless gown!

Pictured above | Reina {left}, Kadence {right}

Reina is definitely my favorite – I love the modern simplicity of the design, the hint of sparkle, and the elegant way it drapes along the shoulders.

Favorite Friday | The Black Tux

From hearing past experiences from grooms and their groomsmen, tux rentals can sometime be a pain to deal with. Shirts arrive in the wrong color, pants aren’t the right length, ties arrive in the wrong pattern, etc. That’s certainly not to say that this happens all the time, but who wants to deal with these problems on the last few days leading up to their wedding? That’s why I’m loving The Black Tux, a tuxedo + suit rental company that offers concierge service for all their rentals. Clients can choose their ensemble online, send in their measurements, and receive their items in the mail prior to the wedding. Not only is it a super simple + stress free process, but they offer some pretty dashing styles!

Favorite Friday | Mancrates

I always have the hardest time coming up with gift ideas for guys – that’s why I was super excited when I stumbled across Man Crates! They don’t offer your run-of-the-mill gifts like ties, watches, cologne, and other “traditional” gifts. Their crates come with things guys really like – food, drinks, and games, lol. Two of my favs from their huge list of offerings are the hot sauce making kit and pit master crate {they also have one for bacon lovers}, which could be a fun date night after the wedding. These would make a great gift for your hubby on wedding day, or even as groomsmen gifts!

Favorite Friday | Coachella Vibes

Don’t get us wrong, we love a romantic, traditional lace gown, but these boho-chic styles are giving them a run for their money! These laid back gowns are perfect for the bride wanting something simple + fun, but still elegant. And those floral crowns + headpieces just add that extra touch of bohemian flair!

Favorite Friday | Le Petit Sweet

Le Petit Sweet is a boutique bakery in Mt. Dora, and while they offer lots of petite desserts {hence the name ;-)} they also dream up stunning wedding cakes. I’m obsessed with their signature tall tiers – so modern and sleek!

Geometric shapes, gold leaf, and the marble effect on fondant add so many unique elements!

Favorite Friday | Geometric Terrariums

Lately, I’ve been {slightly} obsessed with geometric shapes, whether it’s a design on a cake or a fun terrarium included in a tablescape. Terrariums are typically used to house small plants, but over the last several months terrariums in geometric shapes have been used to hold floral arrangements, candles, and even cards. I love seeing these arranged in garland and used on long farm tables!

Favorite Friday | The Pop Parlour

How fun are these popsicles for a summer treat for guests! The Pop Parlour recently provided popsicles for our client’s Cypress Grove wedding, and fruity flavors like strawberry banana, riesling pear, vodka watermelon, and pineapple blood orange were a huge hit.

The Pop Parlour
What we love about these treats is that all the ingredients {like real fruit, veggies, and herbs} are all-natural, organic, and locally sourced. Some of their flavors even include champagne – a perfect option for cocktail hour!

Favorite Friday | BHLDN

Us ladies at RW Events love weddings with charming and unusually beautiful details. If you’ve ever perused pinterest for wedding inspiration, you may have come across BHLDN. This company is owned by Anthropologie (swoon), and specifically focuses on weddings. The shops feature wedding gowns + accessories, bridesmaid dresses, honeymoon attire, and various décor. While there is no physical storefront in Florida, BHLDN does have 9 locations throughout the country. But not to fear!.. They do have one-on-one styling services online, and by phone, to ensure that your event reflects your personality flawlessly.

We’ve gone through the shop, and picked out a few of our favorites to feature. Bear in mind it was extremely difficult to narrow down!

Favorite Friday | Trumpet & Horn

Us ladies at RW Events love just about everything vintage, including the sparkly show-stoppers from Trumpet & Horn! While some of their rings are newly made {designed to look vintage, and some incorporate stones from antique rings}, many of their pieces are authentically vintage. So if you’re on the hunt for a super unique and stunning engagement ring for your sweetie, make sure you browse through their ever changing inventory!

I tried my darndest to pick out my three favorites from their current inventory, but there are just so many to choose from!

Favorite Friday | The Mrs. Box

Let’s be honest… ring boxes tend to be dull, basic, and quite boring. Often times they get tossed to the way-side and become a forgotten token. Why can’t ring boxes be darling little treasures to store your dazzler?! Ahem, introducing The Mrs. Box! The maven behind Grey Likes Weddings has curated these colorful boxes to house every girls’ prized possession – her engagement ring. Each small box is made of French velvet, and every gorgeous color is limited. New boxes come out seasonally, or when colors sell out. Boxes can also be monogrammed!

Trust us, your photographer will love to capture a pretty, little box along with the rest of your wedding-day details! Who wouldn’t love to see a bright-colored box sitting on their vanity everyday?!

Favorite Friday | Badgley Mischka

We’re so excited for our friends at Calvet Couture Bridal – not only have they relocated to a larger {and even more glamorous} shop in Winter Park, but they’ve also started carrying a luxurious line of bridal shoes from designer Badgley Mischka. Now, I’m not one to don heels on a regular basis, but for these shoes I’d gladly make an exception!

My fav from their bridal line – Cadence. This strappy heel is so feminine and features a stunning embellishment on the back.

Favorite Friday | Saint Isabel Bridal

Oh my gosh, I think I’m in love! My heart skipped a beat when I laid eyes on the gown featured in one of our recent styled shoots {tune in for this post next week}. Let me tell you, it’s a beauty! The detail work and tulle give this dress such a romantic and ethereal feel, and the low back is just an added bonus.

It’s not often I come by gowns with flutter sleeves, but I sure love when I do!

Saint Isabel | Faye GownThough this is by far my favorite gown from Saint Isabel Bridal, be sure to check out my second and third favs – Skye and Maelle – they’re almost as perfect as this one 😉

Favorite Friday | Bridal Bouquets

Did you know that bridal bouquets were once mainly created from herbs and spices? It’s said these were used to keep evil spirits away as the bride + groom entered into a new season of life together. We’re definitely glad that bouquets have evolved over the years {although some herbs still look simply stunning in bouquets} because our team loves all things floral! And when it comes to picking out the perfect blooms, there are a few a few styles that we adore for just about every wedding!

Cascade {pictured above left} – if you’re looking to bring the drama, then this bouquet style is for you! These feature a “waterfall” shape, with flowers or greenery cascading from underneath.

Hand Tied {pictured above right} – my favorite of the bouquet styles, these feature a loose bundle of flowers bound together with ribbon. I love the organic and relaxed vibe these bouquets have – they remind me of fresh flowers picked right from the garden. Hand tied bouquets also look lovely with small berries and herbs incorporated 🙂

Arm Sheaf {pictured above left} – also known as presentation style, this bouquet incorporates long stemmed flowers that are cradled in the arm. These are a great option for very modern or chic affairs.

Round {pictured above right} – the quintessential bridal bouquet! Always elegant and somewhat traditional, the round bouquet works with just about every flower type you can imagine. Stems for this style of bouquet are evenly cut and tightly bound, usually with ribbon or lace.

Favorite Friday | Fabiola Capo Bridal Millinery

We met the lovely Fabiola of Fabiola Capo Bridal Millinery several months back, and we’ve since had the pleasure of incorporating some of her pieces in styled shoots! She’s a local artisan {based in Orlando} who hand crafts each stunning headpiece, fascinator, hat, veil, and accessory in her atelier.

One of my favorite pieces from her collection – the Norvège Crown, pictured above {left}.

Whether it’s adding a touch of sparkle or a unique style, we love her designs for brides that want that little something extra for their bridal look!

Moments | Behind the Scenes with an RW Events’ Bride

What is a moment? A moment is defined as:
:a very short period of time
: a particular time; a precise point in time
: the present time

The moments we witness, as our brides prepare for their wedding day, are magically endearing.

Moments of Preparation :: The sheer excitement of something as simple as laying out the wedding dress to getting their hair and make-up done… to the bride putting on her wedding day jewelry the groom surprised her with.

Moments of Friendship :: the bridesmaids helping the dashing bride bustle her gown, fix her veil, or simply get into the elevator to start the processional.

RW Events | Getting ReadyOrlando_Wedding_Planner (6) (1280x853)

All of these moments lead to the most important moment of all… The first time the groom sees the woman he plans to spend eternity with. Ah, the look on Michael’s face is THE reason we LOVE our job and treasure moments such as these! Their wedding ceremony at Grand Bohemian Hotel was truly romantic!!

Staycations ll Epicurean Hotel

For anyone that doesn’t know our team, we love vacations! But then again, who doesn’t!? Every now and then we like to venture out into our own backyard to explore all the great things Florida has to offer. Plus, these staycations are a great way to rejuvenate without having to pack for a long trip. Just grab an overnight bag and you’re good to go! If you’re in the Central Florida area, a fun place to visit is the Epicurean Hotel in Tampa. Prices average around $150 per night (depends on time of year), but there are so many activities nearby – the Tampa Museum of Art, Florida Aquarium, and the beach are just a few places that’d be on our list of things to do =)

“Proposing” to Your Bridesmaids

I think the idea of “proposing” to your bridesmaids + maid of honor is so sweet! If you’re like me and live for crafting, then this is the perfect project for you. Put together a gift box for each bridesmaid with something fun and personal – things like color swatches to match your theme, a mini day-planner, and maybe even a custom hanger. You can even create a pretty hand made card to go with it =)

You’ll need to make an account before browsing their selection, but they make it super easy to find something perfect for your sweetie. Just answer a few questions {what’s her perfect date night, who’s celebrity style best matches hers, etc.} and you’re on your way to finding a gift she’ll love! I took the quiz just to see what they offer and I literally fell in love with so many pieces!

Date Night

Well, it’s Friday and I’m sure lots of couple are searching for fun things to do for date night =) Here are a few of my top choices {some require a bit of planning, but others can be more spontaneous}:

  • Go exploring – head to downtown {or wherever your shops and restaurants are} and eat at a restaurant you’ve never tried before.
  • Host a game night – invite your families over for a fun dinner + game night. It’s a great opportunity for both sides to get to know each other!
  • Cook together – try creating some new recipes together, or sign up for a couples cooking class.
  • Head to the beach – the beach is the perfect place for a romantic bonfire =)

Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day!!! I love all the sweets that come along with this holiday, so here are two yummy recipes to make {as a couple} today:

Lemon Curd Filled Sandwich Cookies
Lemon Cookies

Yield – 60 cookies

  • 2 3⁄4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1⁄2 cups sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
    2. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
    3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.
    4. Beat in egg and vanilla.
    5. Gradually blend in dry ingredients.
    6. Roll out the dough to a thin layer, and cut out hearts, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
    7. Cut out smaller hearts in the large ones for the sandwich cookies.
    8. Bake 8–10 minutes in the oven, or until golden.
    9. Let stand on cookie sheet 2 minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
    10. To make sandwich cookies, place a little lemon curd between 2 cookies and serve.

Cherry Chip Sponge Cake with Almond Whip

    Cherry Chip Spongecake

    Yield – 4 servings

    Ingredients for Sponge Cake

    • 4 eggs, room temperature
    • 3/4 cup/150g granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon canola oil
    • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
    • 1 tsp almond extract
    • 1 cup/125g all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • Rose or pink gel food color
    • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup/ 100g maraschino cherries, chopped
    • Ingredients for Almond filling

    • 2 cups/16.8 oz heavy whipping cream
    • 1/4 cup/48g granulated sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
    • 4 maraschino cherries with stems
    • Directions

1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Grease a 15×10 jelly-roll pan with white vegetable shortening and line with parchment.
      2. In a large bowl, beat eggs with a hand mixer for 5 minutes. Properly whipped eggs will lighten in color considerably and have the appearance of yellow cake batter.
      3. With the mixer still running, slowly add sugar and oil to the whipped eggs. Next, add buttermilk and almond extract.
      4. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Slowly add to the liquid ingredients. Mix until well combined. Mix in the pink gel food color a little at a time until the desired shade is achieved, usually about 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon.
      5. Sprinkle the 1 tablespoon flour over the chopped maraschino cherries and stir briefly. Fold the flour-coated cherries into the sponge batter. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 12-15 minutes; check for doneness at 12 minutes. Cake is done when it springs back when pressed in the center.
      6. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a large wire rack to cool completely.
      7. Sparingly trim the edges of the cake with a serrated knife so that the dimensions are 14×9. Cut the cake into four rectangles approximately 7 x 4.5-inches. Stack the cake slices and cut into four even slices or “fingers”.
      8. For the almond filling, place the heavy cream in a large mixing bowl and whip until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Gradually add in the sugar one tablespoon at a time. Add the almond extract and whip until stiff peaks form. Transfer 1 1/2 cups whipped cream to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Using an off-set spatula, frost three sponge fingers with a little of the whipped cream and stack them; place an unfrosted sponge finger on top.
      9. Pipe an undulating line of whipped cream on top and garnish with a maraschino cherry. Repeat with remaining sponge fingers.
      10. Store loosely covered in the refrigerator.

They also have the option to try up to 3 pieces before you make the final decision – this gives you the chance to try on items with your gown and decide what looks best {plus they’ll give you a discount on the items you decide on}.

Summer Crush

Because we love a refreshing beverage….

Here’s a delicious recipe from Camille Styles that’s perfect for a summer soiree {great for engagement parties, bridal showers, or even as a signature drink}.

  • 3 peaches, peeled and sliced (plums or nectarines would be great, too)
  • 1 large bunch of basil, stems discarded
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 3/4 cup gin
  • 3/4 cup Lillet
  • 1/2 cup light agave syrup
  • ice
  • club soda

In a large pitcher, muddle the fruit with the basil and lime juice. Add the gin, Lillet and agave. Stir well, then pour into 4 glasses filled with ice. Top with club soda, and garnish with extra basil leaves.
