Rain, Rain, Go Away

Dreaming about your perfect outdoor wedding doesn’t have to be a big ‘oof’ when thinking about unpredictable weather! From wind to rain, it’s best to be prepared for anything, and most vendors agree a tent is the best insurance policy to save your special day from the elements. Instead of stressing over the unknown, Hillary and Paxton embraced the occasion by elevating their reception with an original Sailcloth Tent from Sperry Tents of South Florida. Envy Lifestyle & Event Design coordinated the details of a dance floor, market lights, and our Kalani Bar. Trust us, we totally understand your mind is on other things because it’s NOT going to rain on your wedding day…but just in case, let’s prepare for the best outcome!

CEREMONY

Of course, we know what grabbed your attention during your first tour of the venue! Stepping into the backyard, at first glance of the gazebo, your mind starts to wander to your picture-perfect ceremony with Lake Jessamine as the backdrop. Sunset photos with the person you love excite you and you can’t wait to make your vision a reality. But wait, is that rain in the forecast? No worries, there’s still a chance to save the day! Our team works alongside your wedding coordinator and vendors to create the best experience for you despite the unavoidable. For Hillary and Paxton, the April showers held off for a memorable ceremony at the gazebo. Ivy Farm Flowers worked diligently to line the aisle with colorful blooms and floral garland on the gazebo for extra flair. Two Gwen shelves, rented through yours truly, displayed champagne for guests to enjoy as they entered the backyard. If the rain does decide to make an appearance day-of, our ‘plan B’ option is to set-up the entire event under the tent. Guests are seated at their tables for a clear view of the altar, usually placed the center of the space. Market lights (or chandeliers) will help illuminate the area when the overcast turns to night. Subflooring, carpets, fans, and furniture are other options to consider when creating a comfortable atmosphere. Overall, the tent preserves the integrity of your wedding and keeps your vendor’s equipment safe.

COCKTAIL HOUR

The question you’re all  asking: where’s cocktail hour if the tent’s on the lawn? Anywhere and everywhere! For some couples, inside the Estate is most accommodating with the bar set up on the back porch. Hillary & Paxton opted for the Amphitheater for mingling and to host their cocktail hour under the market lights. Highboy cocktail tables were spread out throughout space with a lounge as the focal point. As drinks started to flow, guests were met with a guestbook and gift tale to drop cards, two more Gwen shelves full of pics for the seating chart, and a comfy lounge to rest their feet. A photo booth with backdrop added the last touch to an unforgettable cocktail hour. As the sun began to set, everyone headed to the tent where the real fun started!

RECEPTION

No detail was left out for this wedding! Elegant table numbers, floral centerpieces, napkin rings, floating candles, and menu cards had everyone in awe. The bar was decorated with signage, a bowl of custom matchbook favors, and more floral. We can’t forget the wedding cake, displayed with cookies for dessert. These are just a few of the small touches that made a big impact on the look of the rcception space!  The DJ kicked off the evening with cold sparks during the first dance. Once the announcement was made for open dancing, DJ Stasia jumped on to the dance floor to bust a move! For dinner, guests enjoyed a buffet of yummy selections.

Pro tip – if you’re using indoor space, we encourage couples to use the antique tables and fireplace mantle for decor items; it really helps personalize the space!

Rain or shine, this wedding was simply stunning, and the photo + video teams did an incredible job capturing the excitement as the couple celebrated with friends and family.
